adminForetold is a theatrical musical production conceived and written by Bonnie Deuschle.
It was designed to reveal the beloved story in a fresh and innovative way portraying three main characters: a powerful, rich king, a shy, young shepherd boy and a poor, old woman, who embark on separate journeys — in search of a king.
The production which started on Thursday with a free show for Harare orphanages saw various children’s homes in attendance.
The show saw the full packed audience in the amphitheatre joining Bonnie Deuschle and Celebration Choir in singing Christmas carols before several theatrical operas.
Carols such as “Gloria”, “Joy to the World”, “Silent Night” and “Majesty”, among others were chanted.
The colourful event proved fruitful as children were also treated to a rare opportunity in their room playing while watching the action on the mounted plasma.
Celebration Children Orchestra opened the pre-show which sent the crowds into a frenzy. The orchestra, which has previously toured Italy, was clad in colorful themed attire.
The lighting and the stage work were amazing such that the event was a success and everything was well choreographed and organised.
The show was facilitated by celebrated young adult pastor Lincolin Kapswara, who sailed well during his segment.
Again the show had some segment breaks where the audience had a chance to socialise and networking at the same time enjoying the food that was on sale.
The production was sponsored by Gary Thompson and Associates and Celebration Ministries among others.
According to show spokesperson Pastor Tazarurwa Mtungwazi, the show served as a family evening outing.
“We can say that this was the biggest Christmas event of the year in Zimbabwe. It has been 17 years since we last did the production,” he said
Pastor Mtungwazi said after watching the show many now has an identity and inspiration in themselves.
The musical premiered in December 1992, in Harare, at the Harare International Conference Centre and was an instant success.
When it was presented in December 1994, the tickets were sold out before the doors opened. The demand for the musical drama has brought it back to the stage this December, 2012.
