Christmas party turns deadly: Four men jailed 30 years for brutal murder

A FESTIVE gathering turned into a tragic scene of violence when four men brutally murdered a 35-year-old man during a Christmas party in Silobela.

The incident occurred on 26 December 2024, at Amini Msindo’s homestead in Hollando Village, under Chief Sigodo in Silobela.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, a confrontation between the now deceased Elias Ncube and the offenders, Clinton Mlotshwa, Evidence Moyo, Decent Mlotshwa and Mbongeni Msindo escalated into a violent attack.

“During a Christmas party at Amini Msindo’s homestead in Hollando Village, a confrontation ensued between the deceased and the offenders. The deceased alerted the host that he was being threatened and the offenders were warned to stop but persisted with their unlawful conduct. As the deceased attempted to leave, all four men pursued him and caught up with him outside the homestead.

“They viciously assaulted him with fists, booted feet, a broken beer bottle, and fatally stabbed him multiple times, once in the chest, twice in the back, and once on the jaw. The deceased died on the spot from the injuries. Xolani Ncube, who tried to assist the now deceased was also attacked and injured. Post-mortem results revealed that the deceased died due to multiple stab wounds,” reads the statement.

The four accused persons appeared before the Gweru High Court circuit, where they were found guilty and sentenced to 30 years imprisonment.
