CHROME Stars entertain varsity students, MSU in a grudge match at Chrome Stadium in Kwekwe today in a Zifa Central Soccer League fixture. The hosts will be aiming at consolidating their third position. Chrome are seasoned campaigners and would like to finish the season on a high after their promising campaign got off the rails during the mid-season.
The Kwekwe- based outfit will also be looking at overturning the 0-2 loss the side suffered at the hands of MSU at Ascot Stadium.
Chrome mentor, Gatsi Mukombwe said after Chapungu wrapped up the championship they were now looking at finishing in a respectable position and rebuilding a team for next year.
“The championship race is now over and we are now simply playing for pride and at least rebuild a side which can challenge for honours next season. We are aware of what MSU are capable of doing but we would like to collect maximum points so we can finish in a respectable position,” he said.
His counterpart, Godfrey Chuchu also maintained that his side was on a rebuilding exercise ahead of next season and also vowed to complete a double over his opponents.
Elsewhere, Chapungu who now have nothing to play for, host struggling former Premiership outfit Hardbody at Ascot Stadium.
Hardbody are trying to make a great escape from relegation, a year after they failed to stand the heat in the topflight league which saw them being demoted to the second tier league.
After a 2-3 loss at the hands of the airmen, Hardbody will be hoping to collect maximum points as Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino is no longer fielding his full strength side as he wants to give fringe players a chance.
