Chronicle, Foundation College partnership launched

The official signing of the deal would be done next week.
Speaking at the official launch of the partnership, Zimpapers general manager Bulawayo branch Mr Walter Chipwaya said his organisation was happy to enter into a partnership with a good college.
“As an organisation we are happy to partner with a well recognised college in the education industry,” said Mr Chipwaya.
“I can foresee ourselves getting this baby to a bigger person. We can defeat all odds in the economy if we work together and I can see that we are going to be a strong brand.”
Chronicle deputy editor Tumeliso Makhurane said as the two brands cross-pollinate, new ideas would be born.
“We are going for new and fresh ideas. As we marry the two brands today we will never go wrong and by cross-pollinating our ideas, new ones would be born. This will open career paths for some of the students who are going to partake in this development,” said Makhurane.
He said as the Chronicle team they were proud to publish a column for students, as this would create a new market of readers.
“By publishing this column we will build a group of new readers, that is students and we are proud of that because they will be educated by our paper in different sectors of life,” said Makhurane.
The paper’s circulation, Mr Vethi Tshuma, said the partnership of the two brands would make the society’s view about the college positive.
“Our partnership will see the college gaining a good reputation and more respect from the society because Chronicle is a reputable paper in the country. It is also available online meaning that the whole world will get to see and read the works of the college students,” said Mr Tshuma.
Foundation Colleges chief administrator Mr Joachim Chakanyuka said that the partnership was important for the college students and their colleagues in the country.
“This occasion is important to us and our kids as they would develop a reading culture. They will never forget Chronicle as a medium and other papers that fall under Zimpapers,” said Mr Chakanyuka.
The college’s senior manager and veteran educationist Mr Eben Kawadza said the new development was going to challenge young people to do more in the education system since it was a new idea.
“I am sure this new idea will challenge young people to take part in broadening the education spectrum by airing their views in the field to others. We want the pupils to write their stories and to display their views,” said Mr Kawadza.
