Chronicle reporter retains Sadc top award

CHRONICLE reporter Thandeka Moyo has retained the best national print media Sadc gender protocol award and is set to represent the country in regional finals next month.
Moyo, 24, was honoured for her contributions in the media in the fight to reduce gender-based violence.
A citation said she was being recognised “for your outstanding contributions to promote empowerment of women and ending gender-based violence.”

She received a certificate and a sponsored trip for the finals that will be held in South Africa next month.
Moyo’s runner up was Zimpapers Bulawayo branch Online Editor Stanford Chiwanga.

She expressed gratitude for being nominated to represent the country in the prestigious regional awards.
“I’m happy and I’m thankful to God for His mercies. I also want to thank my colleagues and Chronicle for giving me a chance to shine,” said Moyo.

Moyo has won several awards including the 2011-2012 National Journalistic Media Awards news reporter of the year, the best national print media Sadc gender protocol award and the regional national best print media Sadc gender protocol award for 2013.
