US student kills teacher with box cutter

Cape Town – A Massachusetts high school maths teacher was killed on Tuesday with a box cutter by a student described by classmates as “quiet and normal.” CNN reports that Philip Chism, a 14-year-old Danver high school student followed Colleen Ritzer into the regular students’ girls bathroom where he punched her a few times before killing her with a box cutter.

Chism then stashed her body in a recycling bin, wheeled it outside, and dumped it in the woods behind the high school’s athletic fields.
Ritzer, a popular maths teacher, had asked Chism to remain after class.

According to the Los Angeles Times the investigation was initiated after a missing-person report was filed for a 14-year-old boy who had not returned from Danvers High that day.

At the same time police were informed that Ritzer had not returned home and was not answering her cellphone. Chism has been arrested for murder and is reported to be co-operating with police. –  News24
