FORMER Dstv Rangers coach Elvis “Chuchu” Chiweshe has expressed his disappointment over his dismissal early this week from the club because of poor results .Chiweshe, who joined the club early this year, said he got to know of his fate on Monday just after their first victory when they beat Royal Classics 2-0 last Saturday.
He was sacked together with his assistant Shame Nemasango.
The former Dynamos coach has been replaced by former Starbill assistant coach Ikabot Masocha, who will be assisted by Tonderai Marume. The seasoned campaigners have been struggling since the season got underway, managing a single win out of nine games.
Chiweshe said he thought things were beginning to take shape and the win would be a turning point for the team, but he will accept the decision that has been taken.
“From the way I understand football, it’s a process. Sometimes you need to introduce your philosophy to take-off. It might take time and when you start doing well that’s when people lose patience,” said Chiweshe.
“The guys were playing well only that they were not scoring and when we got a win we thought all was now going to be well, but they were not happy.
“When we were losing so much I think they should have told me to stop, now things are starting to shape up that’s when they are telling me to stop.
“I made this team and it pains when you think that your project is starting to do well but that’s the nurture of my job.”
Chiweshe joined the side at the beginning of the season with the club hoping to fight for promotion into the Premiership having finished among the top contenders last year but they started their campaign on a bad note.
Dstv Rangers technical director, Jaison Magwaku, said they came into this season looking for a good run of results and the coaches failed to deliver. “In fact, what we did is we had a review of the performance of the team from the beginning of the season,” said Magwaku.
“We realised that after nine matches we had one win and we said by our usual high standards this was not acceptable. We had to make a change.”
