MPILO Central Hospital in Bulawayo has received a donation of medical equipment worth $7 400 from Churches of Christ International based in the United States of America. The medical equipment consisted of maternity delivery beds, cardiac monitors, wheelchairs, weighing scales, walking frames and latex gloves. Receiving the donation on Monday, Mpilo Central Hospital chief executive officer Dr Lawrence Mantiziba expressed gratitude to Churches of Christ International for its support to the institution.
He said the equipment would assist the hospital in fulfilling its vision of being a centre of excellence in the provision of healthcare.
“This donation will go a long way in assisting our patients and it will make our work much easier as a medical institution,” said Dr Mantiziba.
The equipment was sourced by Dr Roda Gwini, a member of staff at Mpilo Central Hospital who also paid tribute to the donors for the noble gesture.
Dr Gwini, who represented the donors who could not attend the handover ceremony, said the equipment would make it easy for quality service to be delivered.
Dr Mantiziba urged other staff members to emulate the work done by Dr Gwini saying the hospital needed more of such support.
