Church ordered to work with provincial education official

In an interview yesterday, Mrs Chigwamba confirmed that she met the Anglican church delegation, but could not disclose the details of the meeting.
“I am not in Harare. It’s difficult for me to give you the details. You can send me your questions on paper and send to my secretary,” Mrs Chigwamba said.
Bishop Jakazi said the secretary recommended that the church should work with the provincial education director to address the problem.
“We have met the secretary (Mrs Chigwamba) and she recommended that we work with the provincial education director and meet with parents to resolve the problems amicably by next week,” Bishop Jakazi said.
He said Mrs Chigwamba also recommended that there should be compliance with the Education Act and Education Statutory instruments.
“The process is on going and we are going to resolve it amicably in the shortest time,” he said adding that the situation was under control.
The dispute at the mission school started after parents reportedly demanded to have the authorities establish a school development committee.
However, the school authorities said parents had no mandate to run the school through an SDC because it was disbanded in 2009 after failing to account for US$6 000.
