‘Churches must tap into ICTs’

Churches should embrace information communication technology for better ease of providing their services and to improve communication amonst congregants and in communities, a senior telecommunications industry official has said.

At a Salvation Army Church service in Highfield, Harare on Good Friday, NetOne Executive, Public Relations and Special Projects Mr George Manyaya said all sectors of society should take advantage of the ICT revolution.

He said: “As Christians, we are here together as one family to recognise an important and special day; the day Jesus was crucified. As NetOne, we have decided to come out openly and inform you about our products.

“. . . The Government has a vision that by 2020, 80 percent of the country’s population should have Internet access. I challenge all churches in Zimbabwe to embrace ICT so as to move in contemporary times. Don’t be left behind. You can listen to sermons on your mobile phones, or pay tithes via our platforms.”

NetOne is showing signs of fulfilling its potential as a telecomms industry giant, and its One Fusion package has seen it gain a remarkable market share over the past few months.
