‘Churches must walk the talk’

Churches should be moral torch-bearers in society and leaders must desist from engaging in sexual abuse, a Harare cleric has said.
Apostolic Faith Mission’s Pastor Tapuwa Matunhira told congregants at the recent opening of a new 2 000-seater church in Mbare that rising cases of immorality within churches was cause for concern.
“It is of major concern to us and the nation as a whole that moral values are being lost in churches,” he said. “We want churches to remain the moral bearers and be exemplary in the society. We should walk what we speak and avoid deceiving our followers. We should live for the service of the Lord and our nation and not for people who are out for material gains.”

The new AFM Church will offer skills training to members, particularly unemployed youths.
“We will also be training our youths in various skills to equip them to do their own projects for a living,” Pastor Matunhira said.

AFM has 24 provinces across the country and the new church will cater for congregants from Borrowdale, Highlands, Epworth and surrounding areas.
