The Zimbabwe Amalgamated Churches Council (ZACC) yesterday said it will take advantage of Government’s Transitional Stabilisation Programme to empower its members, mostly pastors across the country by helping them acquire residential stands and to be mobile.
In an interview yesterday ZACC patron Mr Jimayi Muduvuri said the church organisation will pool resources and explore ways to help its members.
“We are excited by the Transitional Stabilisation Programme announced by the Government, and in particular what President Mnangagwa said yesterday (Wednesday) that the Second Republic will maintain the multi-currency system. We need to help our members to have residential stands and vehicles.
“We will obviously negotiate for some facilities with our partners,” said Mr Muduvuri.
President Mnangagwa announced that the multi-currency regime will remain, while Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube announced that Government had secured a loan from Afreximbank to guarantee the 1:1 convertibility value of Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) balances into the United States dollar and availability of the greenback for Nostro foreign currency accounts.
“These policies are progressive. We have to fully utilise them for the benefit of our members who are dotted across the country so that they focus more on spreading the Word of God without thinking of how they would be mobile among other requirements.
“We will have to pool resources, but that will have to be done in a transparent manner. I am aware that a previous scheme that they mooted before I became their patron was not properly handled,” said Mr Muduvuri.
