CHURCHILL Boys High School in Harare will host the 12th edition of the schools’ arts festival on July 26 and 27.
A brain-child of Let the Trust under the directorship of Chido Musasiwa-Gutu, the annual event brings together young talent from across the country.
The two-day festival, which celebrates Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage, will be running between 8 am to 4:30 pm.
In a statement, Musasiwa-Gutu said the festival celebrates young Zimbabwean talent.
“The two-day event will showcase the talent of school children, emerging artists, and renowned artists from across Zimbabwe,” she said.
“The festival is a platform for young voices to be heard and celebrated. Friday’s line-up includes theatre, poetry, traditional music, and dance performances, while Saturday features music, dance, and fashion shows. Visual arts will be on permanent display throughout the festival.
“The festival has been part of Zimbabwe’s arts scene for 12 years, and this year’s event promises to be the biggest and the best so far,” she said.
Performances in poetry, theatre and visual arts will be held under the theme ‘Drug and Substance Abuse’.
Fashion shows will be held under the theme ‘Afrocentric with Zimbabwean Fusion.
The theme for dances will be ‘Ubuntu’.
Musical shows will be carried under the theme ‘Incorporating a Gary Mapanzure song’.
