Shakemore Katehwe (31) who are security guards at the institution.

It is alleged that after stealing the money, the trio shared the loot before making a false report to the police that armed robbers had pounced on them.

The three were not asked to plead to charges of unlawful entry and theft when they appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei.

They were, however, remanded in custody to today for bail application after the State led by Mr Tungamirai Chakurira opposed bail.

It is the State’s case that on May 7 this year, the trio hatched a plan to steal money from the school’s safe.

Usayi who was in custody of the safe, unlocked it and took US$41 000 while his accomplices were on the lookout, it is alleged.

They allegedly shared the money and went on to make a police report in a bid to cover up for the offence.

According to the State, Usayi had been ordered by the school authorities to deposit the money the previous day but he deliberately failed to do so.
