Churchill High School are poised to wrestle the prestigious CABS T20 trophy from last year’s winners Peterhouse as 12 schools, including three South African Colleges, fight for the Championship at St George’s College in Harare. The annual tournament is the pre-season show ahead of the start of the Zimbabwe schools third term cricket calendar and bragging rights are at stake for the top schools. Churchill and St George’s College have traditionally dominated the tournament over the last eight years. Churchill head coach George Tande has backed his team. “We have got a chance to win this tournament if we play according to our potential, what we need now is to turn that potential into results.

“We are going to take it game by game. I think St John’s have a good side, Prince Edward as well as Peterhouse pose a real threat. We don’t want to talk before the chickens have hatched but I think we have the potential to win,” said Tande. Defending champions Peterhouse believe they will give it a good fight.

“We have got a very young side, I brought in three Form Two boys and a couple of seniors and I am really building for the next three years.
“If we play to our potential we can push both sides,” said Peterhouse head coach Kevin Barbour.
