THE Criminal Investigation Department on Friday celebrated outstanding policing efforts by recognising detectives whose work has strengthened national security and public confidence.
The detectives were recognised during the 2025 CID Awards of Excellence that brought together law enforcement, business leaders and community partners, pointing out the growing importance of collaboration in tackling increasingly sophisticated crime.
The event celebrated officers who demonstrated exceptional bravery, teamwork and investigative excellence, reinforcing the CID’s commitment to a secure and peaceful Zimbabwe.
It also highlighted the role of civic organisations in supporting modern policing.
Delivering the keynote address, CID chief director Commissioner Crispen Charumbira said the awards honoured officers whose courage and professionalism have upheld the nation’s safety.
“Policing is not merely an occupation, it is a calling rooted in service to humanity,” he said, noting that CID had achieved a 70 percent detection rate for serious crimes this year.
In his remarks, Business Against Crime Forum of Zimbabwe provincial chairperson, Mr Lovemore Ncube applauded detectives for their dedication to duty, urging continued support from the business community.
“Thank you for keeping Zimbabwe safe,” he said.
Mr Ncube added that partnerships between police and citizens had proved vital in addressing rising criminal sophistication.
“It is only fitting that we strengthen the moral, financial and material support given to our officers,” he said.
Commissioner Charumbira also pledged intensified anti-crime operations during the festive season.
