CIMAS Health Group is set to host the 2024 Cimas iGo Half-Marathon on November 17 in Harare and November 24 in Bulawayo, focusing on raising awareness about men’s health issues, particularly prostate and testicular cancer.

The event is part of the global Movember initiative, which promotes Men’s Health Awareness Month.

This year’s marathon will be held under the theme: “Men’s Health Champions Build Healthier Communities”, with a strong focus on raising awareness about men’s health, particularly prostate and testicular cancer.

Cimas Health Group’s chief executive officer, Mr Vuli Ndlovu said the Cimas iGo half marathon aims to promote wellness and align it with Movember initiatives meant to raise awareness of men’s health issues, particularly cancers that affect men.

“We are proud to host the Cimas iGo Half-Marathon to raise awareness about prostate cancer and other men’s health issues,” he said.

“Our goal is to encourage men to take charge of their health and to promote wellness in the community.”

The marathon will feature a 21km race at 5:30 am, a 10km race at 6 am and a 5km fun run at 6:30 am.

Registration is open online for US$15, which includes a race pack and all proceeds will be donated to the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe.

“Last year’s marathon raised US$13 753 for the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe,” Mr Ndlovu said. “We expect this year’s edition to be even bigger and better.”

Cimas encourages both seasoned runners and the general public to participate, emphasising the role of women in supporting men’s health.

“Men’s health issues like prostate cancer affect millions,” said Mr Ndlovu. “It is time to break the stigma and encourage men to seek medical help when needed.”

The iGo Half-Marathon aligns with Cimas’ commitment to wellness, with proceeds supporting health initiatives across Zimbabwe.
