It is a home fit for any supermodel. But that did not stop Cindy Crawford from accepting more than double her money when she sold a house in Malibu for a whopping $13,341 million.
The 49-year-old, who was voted one of the 100 hottest women of all time by Men’s Health, had picked up the property for a relatively paltry $6 million just a year earlier.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the buyer managed to get something of a bargain, however, for they managed to knock a sizeable $2,1 million from its original $15,45 million asking price.
Perched above Point Dume, the house in the California celebrity enclave features four bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two half bathrooms within its 5 400-square-feet of living space.
Offering both privacy and views, a coveted feature among Malibu beachfront homes, the house is sits on 1,41 acres.
The home is at the end of a cul-de-sac, and the new owner will live next door to “Pretty Woman” Julia Roberts, “Red Hot Chili Pepper” Chad Smith, saxophonist and serial Michael Bolton collaborator Kenny G, and down-to-earth actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
Perhaps inspired after watching episodes of the “Property Brothers”, the three-level home is open plan and ready for everything from dinner parties to blow out bashes.
Cindy and her former model husband Rande Gerber recently installed wide-plank French oak floors throughout the home, the centre of which is formed by a main living area featuring multiple eating areas, a lounge and a wood-burning fireplace.
Despite its expanse it still feels like a home thanks to its white wood ceilings and exposed beams. The living space flows into the kitchen that features a white colour scheme with lots of counter top space and a giant island to cook up big meals.
While there are plenty of eating areas already in the living space, there is also built-in dining banquette where the family can gather for an informal snack.
While the main space would be enough for most to relax in, if the new owners need to get away there is also a family/media room as well as a bonus room that opens up on to a terrace that has an outdoor television.
There is also space for the parents to retreat thanks to the private owner’s suite.
Housing the master bedroom, the suite is an entire floor and also features a sitting area that opens into its own private terrace through floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors with a stunning ocean view.
In addition to having an outdoor television, the wraparound decks have multiple sitting and dining areas. Despite being on a hillside – which allows for the views – the property also features flat grassed areas and a natural looking lagoon-style pool. When most people think of Malibu mansions they think of the stilt houses with direct access to the white sanded beaches.
The property has beach access via a private path – and not just to any beach, but one of the area’s most exclusive with the home’s price including deeded rights to Little Dume. – Dailymail.
