City businessman Dokotela Moyo dies

Bulawayo businessman and bus operator Ray Dokotela Moyo has died.
He was 62.
Dokotela who was the founder and co-owner of Dokotela Buses which plied mainly rural routes, collapsed and died at his home in Selbourne Park yesterday.

Family spokesman Todd Moyo described his brother as a hardworking man who had a passion for development.
“It is with sadness that we receive the news about the death of  Dokotela Moyo. He was a hardworking man and contributed a lot towards the development of rural areas in Matabeleland region. He helped build schools to benefit rural pupils including the underprivileged.
“We have lost our family head, a man who was always ready to help the needy. He has left a huge gap in our family,’ said Moyo.

Dokotela was born on March, 10 1952.
He went to Mkombo Primary School near Khami and proceeded to Bulawayo where he studied at Mzilikazi High School for his secondary education.

He then ventured into motor mechanics before he established his own bus company known as Dokotela Omnibus.
Moyo helped build Ntungwe and St Lucia Primary Schools and was chairperson of the rural bus operators association.
He is survived by nine children and 10 grandchildren.

Mourners are gathered at House Number 14941 Imvubu Crescent, Selbourne Park in Bulawayo.
