City goes after Pogba

LONDON. — Manchester City want to sign Juventus star Paul Pogba as a replacement for talismanic midfielder Yaya Toure. Toure, currently away on African Cup of Nations duty with the Ivory Coast is 32 in May and has been making noises about one final big move in his glittering career.

City would only allow the former Barcelona man to leave if they had another stellar talent coming in and 21-year-old Pogba ticks all the boxes.

Manchester United are still cursing the fact that they allowed a young emerging Pogba to leave for a pittance in the summer of 2012 after refusing to sign a new contract.

Since then, the gangly midfielder who has been likened to both Toure and former Arsenal star and now City head of the elite development squad Patrick Vieira, has grown into a star both for Italian champions Juventus and France.

But City won’t have things all their own way for a player rated in the £50 million bracket. — The Daily Express.
