HARARE City Council has taken delivery of two of the three new refuse compactors it bought from Conplant.

Conplant officials handed over the two new refuse trucks to City of Harare officials at Town House on Tuesday.

Harare Mayor, Jacob Mafume, said Council was working on having a clean city by December.

The December target appears to be fantasy given the current state of waste management in the capital.

Residents in most wards of the capital are always complaining about rubbish piling up at their properties, and in public places, such as shopping centres.

Some wards have resorted to adopting and repairing broken down refuse trucks on condition they are dedicated to serving their wards.
