City to introduce new parking meters

City Council and its South African partner, EasiHold, are waiting for arbitration results in their termination of the EasiPark contract. The Harare city company, City Parking, would charge similar parking fees of US$1 per hour.
The meters would be able to read the number plates of a vehicle, which allows a motorist to park in different places using the US$1 payment.
Council sourced US$1,1 million from a local bank to finance the new parking business.
At least US$700 000 is reserved for CBD parking and the other US$400 000 is for upgrading of Mbare Bus Terminus.
