The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) board members and senior management this week signed the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) Integrity Pledge, reaffirming the authority’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and ethical conduct.
The signing ceremony was held at the CAAZ headquarters in Harare and was led by board chairperson Mrs Nonkosi Ncube, together with senior officials from the authority.
Integrity pledges are social contracts through which individuals affirm their commitment to act against corruption.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, ZACC Chairperson Mr Michael Reza said that the signing of Integrity Pledges by CAAZ was more than a ceremonial commitment.
“It is a decisive affirmation that the safety, security, credibility, and growth of Zimbabwe’s aviation sector depend on incorruptible systems and courageous leadership,” he said.
“As the gateway to Vision 2030 and a critical enabler of trade, tourism, investment, and national security, CAAZ must ensure that certification, licensing, procurement, safety and security oversight remain immune to favouritism, intimidation, kickbacks, and organised criminal influence.”
He commended the CAAZ for taking practical measures to promote integrity by subscribing to the Axcentium whistleblowing platform as well as the activation of functional Integrity Committees at both the Board and Management level.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe has a whistleblowing service and it subscribes to the Axcentium Ethics Line platform, which is an independent fraud and ethics hotline service provider based in Harare.
It allows stakeholders and employees to safely and confidentially report corporate misconduct, corruption, theft, fraud, and non-compliance issues for various subscribed public and private entities.
CAAZ board chairperson Mrs Nonkosi Ncube underscored the authority’s firm commitment to integrity, accountability and ethical governance as critical pillars in the fight against corruption and in the delivery of a safe, secure, efficient and trusted aviation sector.
“Framed within the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, the signing of the Integrity Pledge affirms the responsibility of the board and senior management to lead by example, strengthen institutional safeguards, encourage confidential reporting of wrongdoing, and work closely with ZACC to protect public trust while advancing Zimbabwe’s national development aspirations toward Vision 2030,” she said.
