Civil servants pay date moved

Herald Reporter
The Ministry of Finance has moved the March 2014 pay date for the rest of the civil service from March 25 to March 27. In a statement yesterday, the Civil Service Commission Secretary, Mrs Pretty Sunguro said Treasury had moved the pay dates.
“Civil Service Commission advises that the Ministry of Finance (Treasury) has moved the March 2014 pay date for the rest of the civil service from March 25 to March 27 2014,” read the statement.

Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Nicholas Goche said his ministry was not responsible for setting pay dates, referring questions to the Ministry of Finance.

“The Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, is not responsible for payments, but we only negotiate conditions of service,” he said.

“The Ministry of Finance is the one responsible and knows the budget.”

Civil Service Commission chairman Dr Mariyawanda Nzuwa said he could not comment and referred the matter to Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa. Efforts to get a comment from Minister Chinamasa were fruitless as he did not pick up his phone.
