Civil servants pay dates changed

TREASURY has changed the May pay dates for civil servants. Civil Service Commission secretary Pretty Sunguro was yesterday quoted by ZBC News saying the pay day for the education sector has been moved from May 15 to May 16 while the rest of the civil service will be paid on May 29 instead of May 22.

She said pensioners will receive their payments on May 30 instead of May 28.
Soldiers however received their May salaries last week.

Last month civil servants received salary increments backdated to January as promised by the government following a salary deal reached with government in January.

According to the agreement the government is expected to progressively review the salaries to keep up with the PDL which was pegged at $504.
The government has said another salary review is expected mid-year and the implementation of non-monetary and indigenisation benefits would take centre stage in-between.

Government has also agreed to mobilise an additional $3 million every month for the decompression of salary grades, a move that would see the workers being paid according to seniority, qualification and experience.
