CLASHES BETWEEN MOTORISTS, SEX WORKERS ON THE RISE

THERE has been a rising number of clashes between motorists driving around the Avenues area of Harare and commercial sex workers in recent weeks.

Drivers, who would be accompanied by women, have become victims of verbal abuse as the sex workers assume that every motorist’s intention is to hook them up for sex.

“We are appealing for action against these so-called hookers loitering around Avenues areas,” said one of the motorists.

“One of the sex workers uttered obscene words at me that I felt embarrassed and undressed.

“It is bad, they must not be left with such freedom of expression in broad daylight.

“To them, every motorist is their potential client which is not true.”

A survey by H-Metro proved that a number of motorists have been caught up in this messy situation.

H-Metro established that even pedestrians were not spared.

The ladies scurried for cover after spotting H-Metro’s lenses.

“These motorists burn their fuel to hook us and we have regular and new clients among them.

“Some pretend to visit here for car washes, but their eyes will be fixed on our thighs.

“Iwe ungati kudii nemufundisi anouya kuzogezerwa motokari yake kumaAvenues achisiya kwese uko, vanenge vachitsvaka isu kuno,” said one of the ladies.

H-Metro established that a number of the so-called “day shift” sex workers were from other towns and cities while those who took over the “night shift” were from Harare.
