Former Highlanders and Warriors striker Knox Mutizwa returned to action with a bang, guiding his new club Richards Bay to the quarter-finals of the Carling Black Label Cup.

Richards Bay defeated Chippa United 4-1, with Mutizwa scoring a brace and claiming the man of the match award, which came with a R100 000 cheque.

Mutizwa was released by his former club, Golden Arrows, following a fallout with coach Manqoba Mngqithi two months before the end of last season.

Facing an uncertain future, he was recently given a lifeline by Richards Bay and has quickly pledged to repay the coach’s faith in him with more goals.

Another Zimbabwean star, goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze, shone when Magesi eliminated AmaZulu from the Carling Black Label Cup on Sunday. His outstanding performance in the 3-2 victory earned him the Carling Black Label man of the match award, also worth R100 000.
