WHAT was meant to be a peaceful river cleansing ended in blood-curdling terror!
A Bulawayo traditional healer’s spiritual mission took a gory twist when he stumbled upon a dead man in the bush — right before starting his cleansing ceremony!
Tinos Dube (51), a well-known sangoma from Tshabalala suburb, was leading a group of six people for a spiritual cleansing at Umguza River near Kingsdale plots when things took a chilling turn.
“We had just arrived and parked the car. He went into the bushy area with one of his clients to perform pre-cleansing rituals,” said a source from the group.
But instead of spiritual clarity, what Dube found was the shocking corpse of a man lying face down — clearly dead.
Spooked and shaken, the sangoma and his client sprinted back to the rest of the group, panting and trembling.
“They told us what they saw. A few of us went back to confirm and there it was — a man, dead, bleeding from the head. It was clear something bad had happened,” the source added.
Police investigators later confirmed the body showed signs of a struggle and head injuries consistent with stabbing, suggesting foul play.
Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Assistant, Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the horror.
“We are investigating a suspected murder near Kingsdale River in Umguza. The body had visible injuries and there were signs of a struggle. We urge anyone with information to report to the nearest police station.”
So much for cleansing bad spirits — Dube might have walked into the aftermath of a deadly ritual or a murder mystery waiting to be solved!
