Clearing agent lets 2 400kg of mbanje enter Zim

with dealing in dangerous drugs.
The pair yesterday appeared before magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe who remanded them in custody to January 21 for bail application.

Prosecutor Miss Junior Mugebe alleges that on January 12 Chimutsanya and Mukumba acted in connivance with their four accomplices still at large to transport 41 bags of dagga from Malawi for resale in the country.

It is alleged they stashed the mbanje under hessian bags on the pretext they were delivering the bags for tobacco packaging.
Chimutsanya facilitated for the truck to pass through the Nyamapanda Border Post without it being checked by security agents.

Mukumba drove to Harare where he met his accomplices at Chisipite toll gate before they were joined by Chimutsanya, it is alleged.
It is the State’s case that the gang drove to Washaya garage in Aspindale where they started offloading the dagga into their vehicles, a Kombi and a taxi.

They were confronted by officers from Southerton while still offloading and they fled from the scene, the court heard.
The officers gave chase and managed to apprehend Mukumba who then implicated Chimutsanya.
