ARTISTES from Matabeleland South are set to take centre stage at this year’s Independence Day celebrations, with Clement Magwaza and Ndolwane Super Sounds confirmed among the headline acts for the 46th Independence Gala.
The gala will be held at Minda Primary School in Matobo District, positioning local talent as some of the biggest beneficiaries of the national showcase.
Magwaza, who leads Macrey Super Sounds, and the popular Ndolwane Super Sounds are expected to anchor the entertainment programme, highlighting the province’s rich traditional and contemporary sound.
This year’s commemorations will run under the theme “Zim@46: Unity and Development Towards Vision 2030.”
Speaking during a post-Cabinet briefing, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere said the Government was intensifying preparations to ensure the celebrations are a success.
He said selected entertainment groups include Ufasimba the Home of Arts, Indosakusa (The Morning Star), Ndolwane Super Sounds, Mavusani, the Chimurenga Vocalists, Macrey Super Sounds and several others.
Sources close to the selection process indicated that a significant number of artistes from the province were recommended for performance slots, signalling a deliberate push to promote local talent.
For many performers, the Independence Gala offers a rare opportunity to showcase their talent before a national audience, opening doors for wider recognition and career growth. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
