COMMUNITY members in Chiropa area of Headlands have joined forces and mobilised resources to construct a clinic in the resettlement area.
The Ward Eight villagers have since constructed a staff house and rehabilitated a disused farm house using their own resources.
Zanu PF Headlands Constituency aspiring legislator, Cde Farai Walter Mapfumo also chipped in and drilled a borehole at the site.
He has promised to provide more resources to expedite the opening of the facility.
The villagers who were resettled in the area are currently travelling long distances to Chinyudze and Headlands Clinics.
One of the community leaders and Zanu PF aspiring councillor, Cde David Muzarabani said his community is working hand in hand with Government to ensure access to health services.
“We are so grateful to Cde Mapfumo who drilled a borehole at the site after we approached him for assistance. He has promised to do more,” said Cde Muzarabani.
Cde Mapfumo said he was impressed by the community’s resourcefulness and said he would engage Government and other development partners to assist in the development of a fully fledged clinic.
“I am really impressed by this community for its dedication and unity. President Mnangagwa is always on record saying Zimbabwe will be developed by Zimbabweans and these villagers have aptly demonstrated that.
“We hope to complete the construction soon as I will be chipping in with more resources and mobilising Government departments to come on board.
“Health issues are a top priority for the Government, and we must emulate President Mnangagwa’s work ethic and replicate it at local level,” said Cde Mapfumo.
