Clinic staff transferred over misunderstanding

A Zaka district medical officer has transferred the whole staff stationed at Bota Rural Clinic following a misunderstanding among employees.

Dr Takaidza handed transfer letters to Registered General Nurses and other staff members after receiving a complaint about the misuse of funds meant for staff motivation. One of the staff members, Susan Ndondo, assigned to collect the money since January has been accused of pocketing the money thereby forcing others to complain.

District officials visited the clinic, held a meeting, and ordered Ndondo to put her books in order.

Instead of solving the issue, the district decided to transfer everyone from the clinic to neighbouring clinics within the district.

In a letter dated August 26, 2024, signed by Dr Takaidza reads;

“As the above matter refers, you are being transferred from your current station to the aforementioned station.

“The movement has been necessitated by a shortage of human resources and the need for more experienced personnel in this clinic

“The office of the DMO is releasing you with effect from 31 August 2024 and your date of assumption of duty on the new station is 02 September 2024.

“Transportation costs will be shouldered by the responsible authority.

“Your cooperation is greatly appreciated”.

In an interview, Ndondo, a primary care nurse, told H-Metro that the other nurses had not been working and were not entitled to receive the money.

“If I may have the names of the workers who complained,” said Ndondo.

“I am receiving the money because I work hard and do not waste my time sitting at home feeding chickens like what others do.

“That money is only meant for employees who work that’s all,” she said.
