‘Clitoris collector’s’ wife killer faces more charges

Bloemfontein — The bail application of Motlatsi Moqeti, accused of conspiring to murder the wife of alleged genital mutilator Peter Frederiksen, was postponed in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Lawyer Dillon Bruintjies told the court the accused had further charges that needed to be added and assessed, but he could “only reveal them at a later stage to the court”.

Magistrate BJ Zulu agreed and postponed the matter to January 13. The state previously told the court a witness and phone calls linked wheelchair-bound Moqeti, 31, to the killing of 28-year-old Anna Matseliso Molise.

Frederiksen allegedly approached Moqeti, who is said to have criminal underworld contacts, offering to pay for an organised hit on his wife. Frederiksen was arrested on September 17 after 21 clitorises were found in his freezer.

Molise, who helped the police with information about Frederiksen, reportedly refused to be placed in a witness protection programme. The Hawks have previously described her killing as a suspected hit. She was a key witness in the trial against her husband.

During his bail application Frederiksen told the court he had been unaware of his wife’s death until he had seen it in the media.

He faces charges including assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, manufacturing child pornography, distributing child pornography, possession of child pornography, conspiracy to murder and bigamy. Frederiksen would also appear in court on January 13. – AFP
