Sources who attended the closed door meeting said the storm started when Moyo presented the schedule of debtors in possession of this paper which appeared to confuse all the club representatives who were in attendance save for the management committee.
Tempers are said to have flared and clubs fell short of calling for a vote of no confidence on the Patrick Hill-led Central Region executive which they accused of incompetence.
Club representatives who refused to be named accused the league management of incompetence and negligence and said there was need for transparency.
“The fact is that the schedule of debtors is in shambles and the fact that all clubs failed to comprehend it says a lot about how these guys are running things which boils down to incompetence and negligence.
“I feel there is need to hire external auditors to look into the region’s books because the fact that all clubs failed to understand the schedule of debtors means there are people who are trying to hide something,” said the chairman of a Gweru-based club.
Stanley Chapeta, the region’s acting secretary skirted the issue when contacted for comment and insisted the meeting went well.
“We are happy with the way the meeting progressed but as you know when people meet there are always disagreements here and there but we managed to reach a consensus,” the acting secretary said.
The region has been mired in controversy since its inception in 2010, the most infamous being match-fixing scandal termed Centralgate by the media which led to the suspension of its chairman Patrick Hokonya.
However, since the suspension of Hokonya seen by many as a capable and astute leader, things have degenerated to chaos.
Meanwhile, an awards presentation ceremony preceded the meeting where Premiership bound Tripple B were presented with a shield, gold medals and $1 000 in cash for winning the championship while runners-up Chapungu were at hand to receive silver medals.
The Beitbridge side also dominated the individual awards where their captain Ali Kazembe was named the league’s Player of the Year while the side’s goalkeeper Prince Dube was named the league’s best shot stopper.
Both players received $500 each and a shield.
The only other winner was FC Strikers’ Sizalobuhle Dube who emerged as the league’s top goal scorer.
