“I am confident that we are going to be unbeatable this season, we have started preparations for the season and we are happy that we were able to get a sponsor.
“I was happy with this week’s training and next week it will be even more interesting as most our players will be present. We now have enough gym equipment and we are going to take all the players to the gym before we get to train in the field at each session.
“It is going to be a tough season and we just have to beat Harare Sports Club, we beat them at our home ground and we are confident that we can beat them again.
“We almost reached our goal last year and so this season we are going to turn the tables,” said Kumpasa.
Matabeleland Warriors, formerly Busters achieved a club milestone by reaching their first final in the era of the modern national rugby league.
They managed to dominate last year’s awards too, with Kumpasa winning the Coach of the Year, while the Forward of the Year prize went to Buselee Tshamala and the Most Disciplined Player award was given to Osmond Lynx.
Matabeleland Warriors’ achievements have also left the Matabeleland Rugby Board satisfied with the growth of the game in the Southern region.
MRB chairman, Tapiwa Mangezi, pointed out the promotion of Zvishavane Bulls as part of the growth of the game in their region.
