SWIMMING instructor, lifesaver and motorcycling enthusiast, Victor Kazember, popularly known as Coach Rambo, has been honoured with an Honorary Award by the Young Achievers Awards Zimbabwe for his contribution to community safety and lifesaving.
Kazembe has earned a reputation as a man who responds to emergencies, particularly those involving water-related incidents.
He came into the spotlight after risking his life to retrieve the bodies of three people who had drowned in a sewage-filled trench in Harare.
Despite being involved in a motorcycle accident recently, Kazembe recovered from his injuries and returned to his work as a scuba diver, lifesaver and swimming instructor.
Reflecting on the honour, Kazembe dedicated the award to the people who have supported and inspired his journey in lifesaving.
“I am deeply honoured to announce that I, Coach Rambo the Lifesaver, received an Honorary Award from the Young Achievers Awards Zimbabwe. This special award recognises my outstanding contribution, dedication and remarkable efforts in empowering, motivating and inspiring young achievers,” he said.
Kazembe said the recognition had strengthened his commitment to saving lives, preventing drowning and promoting water-safety education.
“I dedicate this recognition to everyone who has supported my journey in lifesaving, scuba diving, swimming coaching, water-safety education and community service. This award strengthens my commitment to saving lives, preventing drowning and inspiring young people to serve their communities,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to the Young Achievers Awards Zimbabwe for recognising his work, while acknowledging the support he has received from his family, friends, fellow lifesavers, bikers, partners and the wider community.
“To the Young Achievers Awards Zimbabwe, thank you for recognising my work. To my family, friends, fellow lifesavers, bikers, partners and the entire Zimbabwean community, this award belongs to all of us. The mission continues. Together, we can save lives and build a safer future for our young people,” he said.
Kazembe continues to balance his work as a lifesaver, swimming coach and scuba diver with his passion for motorcycling.
