COACH RAMBO SUFFERED BROKEN RIBS, A PUNCTURED LUNG AND HEAD INJURIES IN ACCIDENT

VICTOR Kazembe, who is popularly known as Coach Rambo, suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung and head injuries when his motor bike was hit by a kombi along the Harare-Bulawayo highway on Saturday evening.

He is currently admitted at the Avenues Clinic in Harare.

Coach Rambo, a keen biker, was travelling from Norton to Harare when his bike was hit by a kombi.

He had just passed the bridge, where three CAPS United players – Blessing Makunike, Shingi Arlon and Gary Mashoko died in an accident in March 2004 – when he was hit by the kombi.

Witnesses say the driver of that kombi, who did not have any passengers, was driving from a nearby bar and was at fault as he should have given Coach Rambo the way.

“Coach Rambo suffered broken ribs, his lungs were also punctured and he is complaining of some chest pains,” said a colleague.

“He also has some head injuries and there are scans that are being done.

“We are mobilising funds because we need to raise US$8,700 for all the examinations to be done and for him to stay at the Avenues for an initial five-day period.

“He was first taken to Norton Hospital but we then brought him to Belvedere Medical Centre before taking him to the Avenues.

“There is a lot of speculation on social media and a lot of the information is false.

“As Zimbabweans, during such moments, we need to find our humanity again rather than treat such sensitive issues as something to boost our social media profiles and get some likes or whatever.

“We should know that these are real people and they have families and we can’t just post information that is sensitive when we know that we don’t have proper facts.”

Coach Rambo’s family is calling for prayers.

The biker community, whose members rushed to the scene and played a part in helping Coach Rambo to be transferred from Norton Hospital to the Avenues Clinic, is also calling for the nation to pray for him.

“For the mean time, we are calling for more prayers more than anything else,” said a member of the bikers’ community.

“He is admitted at Avenues Clinic and the scans are being done.

“He suffered an injury on one of his jaws and there is need for a surgical operation to be conducted.

“We are seeking more prayers for his recovery.”
