AFTER a slow start to their campaign in the Northern Region Division One Soccer League, Lake Harvest are hoping for a victory when they face Blue Jets today at Nyamhunga.
The Kariba-based side have so far lost three matches, won two and drawn one.
They lost to Gunners, Black Rhinos and DC Academy.
They drew 1-1 against ZRP FC.
Tomorrow they take on Blue Jets at Nyamhunga and coach, Ralph Kawondera, said they were ready for the army side.
“The boys are working very hard in preparation for the game, Blue Jets are a seasoned team and it’s not their first time in Division One.
“They have been here before and they have experienced players from Chapungu and some from Blue Swallows so we know what awaits us.
“We hope we will get a positive result.
“Since we are playing at home we need to attack from the onset and utilise the chances we get. Morale is high after getting that win away from home,” said Kawondera.
Kawondera said his team has been improving.
“I think we are improving by each game. If you look at the first games, we lost 1-0 to Gunners and Black Rhinos before we scored one goal in the following game (against ZRP FC).
“But we were playing well and creating chances and failing to convert. We have since worked on that and the guys are showing improvement.
“It’s going to be a tough game for us but I have confidence in the guys. I can say things now are shaping up.
“The Northern Region League is tough and taking a look at the log teams are separated by just one or two points and if you lose one match you can go five places down the table,” said Kawondera.
Blue Jets are also coming from a 3-0 win against Seven Flames and coach, Thomas Ruzive, said he is going to retain most of the players who played in that game.
Left-back Fanuel Chogari is the only player dropped due to an ankle injury.
Ruzive said they will be out for a win and he will be pinning his hopes on seasoned players like Victor Bangira and Callisto Maheya who played for Chapungu.
“We are going to Kariba prepared for a win. We started with big teams so we are trying to pick points because we had a false start.
“Our chances of winning are fifty-fifty because the guys had a morale booster after last weekend’s 3-0 win. That was our first win,” said Ruzive.
