FORMER Hwange and Pretoria University of South Africa skipper Obert Moyo has found a new home in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) after agreeing terms with CS Don Bosco.Moyo, who has been out of action for a year now following his unsuccessful stay at Platinum Stars in the Absa Premiership, joins fellow club mate at Hwange, Carrington Gomba as well as two other Zimbabweans, Darryl Nyandoro and Chris Samakweri.
“He is here with us but has not played a game after sustaining an injury at training. The coaches seem happy with him and I am sure in our next game he will be available for selection,” said Gomba from their base in Lubumbashi.
Nicknamed Cobra because of his hard but well timed and crucial tackles, Moyo was once a regular in the Young Warriors and senior national team squads.
While in South Africa, he captained Pretoria University to the final of the 2009 Nedbank Cup which they lost 0-1 to Moroka Swallows.
He was linked to a number of top PSL sides after that, as well as attending trials in Poland, but instead found himself back in Zimbabwe at first with Hwange and then CAPS United.
Moyo made a return to South African football at Platinum Stars after signing for Dikwena ahead of the 2012/13 PSL season. He started as a regular in the Stars side, but was not seen in the second half of the campaign.
Don Bosco play their home games at the 18,000 capacity Stade TP Mazembe. The club serves as a feeder club to TP Mazembe. Efforts to talk to Moyo were fruitless.
