In a statement, Major Tikiwa of Multi Media, urged fans to throng the Large City Hall and celebrate being an African.
He said Iyasa would perform the globally respected song All I need is right here in Africa by legendary South African musician, Steve Kekana.
“The song is the message behind the Africa wide campaign. Bulawayo’s Large City Hall will be the venue for the Coca-Cola 1 Billion Reasons to Believe in Africa free show featuring the internationally acclaimed Iyasa, Say Band and Otis Ngwabi,” said Tikiwa.
He said the show would start at 10am and end at 4pm and there would be surprise acts at the show.
Tikiwa said the show was to paint a good picture of Africa and encourage people to be proud of their continent.
“Coca-Cola hopes that through this campaign, Africans will be encouraged to shun the negative image that is usually associated with the world’s second largest continent, and paint it as a beacon of hope,” he said.
Tikiwa said at the Harare launch of the same campaign during the just ended Hifa, Coca-Cola senior franchise brand manager Mona Karingi said the world sees Africa as dark, hopeless and stricken with disease, conflict and poverty.
“Both local and international media outlets focus on negative news because that is what sells. People and particularly Africans are tired of this image because Africa has a lot of positive news to offer,” she said.
Karingi added: “Coca-Cola is enabling African youths to believe in themselves and the continent.
Throughout this process, we will be working with African teens to lead the way on the path to positivity in the continent”.
He said with this campaign, Coca-Cola hoped to encourage African youth to celebrate their heritage and demonstrate what the continent had to offer.
