THE Business Economic Empowerment Forum has encouraged youths from the Matabeleland region to be patient and go through protocols and procedures required to establish bankable businesses.
Speaking at a BEEF workshop in Bulawayo last week, BEEF president, Mr Solomon Matsa said there were lot of opportunities availed by the Government to youths.
“In most cases people tend to be lazy to comply to simple requirements like paperwork.
They are mostly lazy to work hard enough for a recognition.
“These are protocol, process and procedure.
Business should not have the ‘who you know’ mantra, as much as networking helps, business is also about good bankable business ideas.
“There are opportunities presented by the Government that could benefit a lot of people if taken advantage of.
“For instance, there is ‘houses for all’ project, the ongoing student’s residence construction projects pending in a number of institutions like Lupane State University.
“Local construction companies should be in a race to take up those opportunities, but many a times we come across angry people folding their arms doing nothing but just complaining,” he said.
Mr Matsa also urged businesses around the country to consider joining the BEEF so as to network and learn more about policies.
Speaking in the same workshop, BEEF vice president Mr Mpumelelo Phiri said the business forum welcomes youths who need assistance in establishing their businesses, making businesses better, seeking advice among other things.
“We as BEEF are here to promote business people and break business barriers.
We have an open door policy with the government, we should be glad that we have a listening President (President Mnangagwa) who wants to leave no one behind.
“Opportunities do not come knocking on anyone’s door, hard workers stumble upon opportunities in the process towards being established businesses,” he said.
