Comedian bounces back after losing front row teeth

COMEDIAN Solitaire a�?Zibozizodwaa�? Ncube (30), went into hibernation last year after losing his front teeth during a pool game at a bar in the city centre.

Ita��s not a joke. He doesna��t have a a�?Front line Statesa�?.

Zibozizodwa whose stage name literally means a�?nothing but jokesa�? lost one lateral incisor and two central incisors when he was hit by a snooker ball.

As if thata��s not enough, his long time girlfriend dumped him because of his a�?new looka�?.

Opening up on the issue and more, the comedian said he had not ditched the craft.

Instead he is on his way to become an ace funnyman and his new look will be an added advantage.

a�?After the accident I lost confidence, I wasna��t sure how people were going to react. So I decided to stay low and stopped performing in big shows. Reality set in after my girlfriend dumped me, it was that bad,a�? said Zibozizodwa.

Since last year in May, Zibozizodwa who was supposed to perform at the anniversary of uMahlekisa Comedy Club resorted to performing at weddings and childrena��s parties. Until late last year, thanks to gruelling speech practice he can now speak normally.

He speaks better than American Rapper 50 Cent whose mouth was riddled by bullets and he survived.

a�?The effect of losing teeth can be traumatising, especially the front row. I had to go through speech therapy, I couldna��t speak normally or even sing. This negatively impacted my career as a comedian,a�? he said.

Despite being encouraged by friends to get dentures, Zibozizodwa, known for his lurid jokes, said he had come to terms with his new image.

a�?I could have easily put dentures. But my inner self couldna��t approve, deep down I knew I couldna��t avoid that this was the new me. This is now my new image.A� If possible, I have to push it to all limits as a brand,a�? he said.

During hibernation, he worked on several projects.

a�?People are going to see more of me in 2017. I have a lot of projects that I worked on during my recovery period.

Currently I am working on my debut music albumA� Ngihlala Ngiduma which is going be more of comic music and I will also start appearing on big comedy events,a�? he said.
