STAND-UP comedian, Carl Joshua Ncube and his wife Nelsy say they forgot to mark their wedding anniversary this month. They only realised that during the evening of that day. It might sound like one of the jokes that Ncube tells during his sets but this was a true story as his wife of two years said. When they realised it, they simply laughed it off. The couple was married at an extravagant wedding on October 9, 2012 in the Bahamas on an island called Coco Cay after being friends for eight years.

Carl proposed to Nelsy in front of several hundred people at his first major one-man show, The Big Announcement, in 2010, surprising many who did not think he would pop the question.

“We were at home after a long day at work and Carl said what is today’s date and I said October, 9. We then said it’s our anniversary. We laughed and he said let’s go for ice-cream of which we did,” said Nelsy.

She said it was difficult for them to remember their anniversary because the two years were bliss as they commonly do things that some people only do on their wedding anniversaries.

“Carl cooks for me and I love it. When we go for things like shows we spend time together and we spend a lot of time together, we travel together and it is easy to not look forward to an anniversary because we celebrate it every day,” said Nelsy .

She said their eight-year friendship before they got married cemented their marriage.

“We know a lot about each other as we got married after eight years of being friends and a year of dating. As you know one cannot know everything about your partner, like Carl likes to leave his socks all over the place,” said Nelsy.

She said as a couple that was always on the road they were preparing for a two week tour of Australia with Nigerian comic Basket Mouth from November 7 to 14.

“We shall tour with him from Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane all in two weeks. We are excited that we shall be touring with Basket Mouth from Nigeria,” said Nelsy.
