The comedy festival slated for November 28 at Rainbow Towers will give local comedians a platform to interact with their established counterparts, organiser of the event has said. Dubbed the Rainbow Towers Comedy Fest, the event will see South African duo Donavan and Jason Goliath sharing the stage with Carl Joshua Ncube, Michael Kudakwashe and Qobiztha Siziba popularly known as Mr Q Carl, the brains behind the fiesta, said the festival which is the first of its kind in Zimbabwe, shows that the local comedy sector is growing.

“I have performed in different countries around the globe and interacted with comedians that played a role in building my career.
“I have come to know them personally and this festival is meant be a platform for interaction with local guys. I hope such a platform will promote the growth of local comedy sector. This is the first time we are having a comedy festival in Zimbabwe. We also have big events lined for next year. It will be a night to remember. Comedy is here to stay,” ” said Ncube.

Zimbabwean comedians will have the opportunity to learn one or two things from their South African counterparts who have made it in the comedy genre.

Donovan’s act includes a lot of story-telling and simple insights using various characters and impersonations to get his message across.
He has rocked fesses like the “Tshwane Comedy Nights” at State Theatre, “Soweto Comedy festival” and “Blacks Only”. Not to be outdone is Jason Goliath. Those who will represent Zimbabwe are also heavy weights in their own right. Described by CNN African Voices as the “New face of Zimbabwean Comedy”, Carl literally broke into the Zimbabwean comedy scene with his debut one-man show “Carl Joshua Ncube’s Big

Announcement”. To date Carl has performed in South Africa,Botswana, Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria and USA. Michael Kudakwashe and Mr Q have also been doing well in local comedy.
