Comedy show cancelled as no fans turn up!

THE African Joker’s much-anticipated comedy show at 7 Arts Theatre in Harare last Friday was cancelled at the eleventh hour due to a low turnout.

The show has now been postponed to July.

Show organisers stunned fans as they were nowhere to be seen.

A handful of fans were seated in the auditorium.

“This is not proper when event organisers are nowhere to be seen as fans need answers.

“They should have come and addressed fans if there are any changes.

“We have a community to serve and this should not be allowed to happen.

“This was grossly unfair for the fans who had paid to come here,” said one of the officials manning the venue.

He added:

“We should always respect our fans who have made this sacrifice to come and watch this guy.

“From my knowledge and experience, fans should always be prioritised.

“Keeping them guessing is not the proper thing at all.”

The African Joker was set to share the stage with local comedy stars — Uncle Bhutisi, Doc Vikela, and Sipho Mercent Nyathi.

The coordinator Blessing “Messina” Jeke said:

“We have moved the show to July due to circumstances beyond our control.

“We will issue a proper statement on the issue.”

Last week, Jeke said they were hopeful the comedy show would create opportunities for local acts.

“This is just the beginning of more to come from our stable this year as far as comedy goes.

“This will be the first time that he (The African Joker) will be visiting our shores and we do anticipate a good night as we seek to create collaborations with our counterparts in Zambia.

“The guy we are talking about has been touring Africa and having him come and perform in Zimbabwe, is a plus for creatives.” (H-Metro)
