Comic Pastor acquitted of physical abuse charge

Comedian Comic Pastor has been acquitted of physically abusing his ex-wife, Munyaradzi Mavura, due to lack  of evidence.

Mavura was the only State witness and the medical report she presented did not provide conclusive evidence that the alleged abuse caused her miscarriage.

The court also discredited  Mavura’s claim that she  delayed pursuing the matter because she was unaware of her rights after establishing that she reported the matter in 2016.

Mavura had claimed that she would be beaten up each time she had an argument  with Noddy (Comic Pastor’s current wife), who was his girlfriend then, during the subsistence of their year-long marriage.

She also stated that she  was coerced into delaying seeking justice.

The Comic Pastor denied the allegations and Epworth magistrate, Jesline Madaka, found that the State had failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.

“On these grounds, the court finds that the State failed to prove its case. The Comic Pastor is found not guilty and acquitted,” ruled magistrate Madaka.
