Retired High Court Judge Justice Maphios Cheda’s commission of inquiry into Harare City Council affairs has resumed public
hearings after Tuesday’s adjournment.
The delay was caused by Works and Town Planning chairperson Takudzwa Dzumbunu’s failure to appear at 1 pm as agreed.
Dzumbunu was tasked with gathering necessary reports but claimed a joint meeting ran until 5 pm yesterday, preventing her
from obtaining the documents.
Thabani Mpofu, leading evidence, has called for Dzumbunu’s imprisonment for contempt, citing deliberate non-compliance.
Justice Cheda has temporarily adjourned the commission to rule on Dzumbunu’s contempt.
