Commission, workers fight

WORKERS at the Sports Commission are up in arms with their top brass which they have dragged to the Labour Court, where a hearing has been set for today, over outstanding allowances due to them.Sources at the Sports Commission yesterday said the employee are entitled to a housing and  transport allowance every month but the money is not being paid while the directors are allegedly getting theirs.

The sources allege that officers, who include the director-general and the directors, were benefiting from the allowances while the other employees, who include the officers and managers, were not.

“The contracts for the top brass spell out clearly that they get fuel and have got cars, so in this case, they are not entitled to transport allowances.

“But, funny enough, they are getting the allowances yet the same benefits are not being enjoyed by the rest of the staff.
“We know that the SRC does not get huge sums of money but we are saying we should be sharing the little that we are getting,” said the sources.
