Community Alarm Over Human Trafficking Syndicate in Gweru

Valencia Ndlovu, Sunday News Reporter

The community of Gweru is in a state of alarm as reports surface regarding a dangerous human trafficking syndicate that has been wreaking havoc in the city.

Local residents are particularly concerned about the activities of a gang allegedly led by Prince Ncube, a member of the Johanne Masowe church, who is said to be targeting young girls for prostitution and trafficking them to South Africa.

A prominent community leader, who chose to remain anonymous for safety reasons, expressed deep concern about the gang’s operations.

“We believe that Prince Ncube’s gang is highly connected within the police force. Despite numerous reports filed about their activities, the police seem uninterested in pursuing these cases,” the leader stated.

This troubling revelation has left many residents feeling vulnerable and frustrated.

Another community member, who also requested anonymity, shared alarming insights regarding Ncube’s methods.

“Prince uses his church as a facade to recruit potential targets, often pretending to offer them marriage. The recent case of Yvetty Tanatswa Shuro is heartbreaking; he took her and has been forcing her into prostitution, pocketing the money she earns.

“He would physically and sexually abuse her, beating her up if she tried to resist him, it was horrific and Prince would openly boast in the community that he was untouchable,” they revealed.

Witnesses in the community confirmed that they had seen the manipulation and coercion but felt powerless to intervene.

“We are all aware of what Prince is doing, but we are afraid to confront him or report him to the police due to his violent nature,” the community member added.

“Now, we fear for Yvetty’s safety, as Prince has seemingly taken her to South Africa.”

The alarming situation has prompted calls for greater community awareness and intervention, as residents advocate for protective measures to ensure the safety of young girls in Gweru.

Many are urging local authorities to take these allegations seriously and consider the community’s safety above all else.
