A TOUT has been ordered to perform 210 hours of community service for having sex with a 14-year-old pupil in a bushy area near Ngozi Mine.
Twinlock Moyo pleaded guilty to having sexual intercourse with a young person charges when he appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Stephen Ndhlovu.
Magistrate Ndhlovu warned him to desist from having sexual relations with minors as it would land him in worse trouble.
“Stay away from children Twinlock. How do you have a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old? She is below the legal age to consent to sex,” said the magistrate.
“You are sentenced to 12 months in prison. Six months will be suspended for five years on condition that you do not commit a similar offence within that period. The remaining six months will be suspended on condition that you perform 210 hours of community service at Mzilikazi police station.”
In a warned and cautioned statement, Moyo said he did not know his girlfriend’s age.
The minor, whose name has been withheld for ethical reasons, also lives in Cowdray Park suburb and is a Form Two pupil at a school in Mzilikazi suburb.
Prosecuting, Ms Sibekithemba Dube said the tout had a love relationship with the pupil for some time.
Ms Dube said on September 27 this year at around 7PM, Moyo went to the juvenile’s home and asked to take her for a walk.
The girl agreed and they went to a bushy area near Ngozi Mine landfill where they had sexual intercourse.
Their crime came out in the open when they met the girl’s uncle on their way home.
“After the encounter, the accused person accompanied the complainant to her place of residence and on their way they came across the complainant’s uncle who demanded to know what was going on,” said the prosecutor.
The complainant confessed and the uncle engaged the juvenile’s mother and they reported the matter to the police.
